Welcome to METEOR Workability

.

The METEOR project is based at Business Work & Ageing (BWA) Centre for Research at Swinburne University’s Faculty of Business & Enterprise.

Established in 2001, BWA is an international leader in researching and providing practical responses to the economic and social consequences of workforce ageing. It has been working with Professor Juhani Ilmarinen, a former Director of the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health in applying Workability in Australia.

.The METEOR project is funded by VicHealth under a VicHealth Public Health Fellowship (2006- 2011) (Associate Professor Elizabeth Brooke) and J.O & J.R Wicking Grant (ANZ Trustees) (2008-2010). ‘Trials of more effective means of recruiting, training and retaining aged care professionals’.

Based on the Finnish Workability approach, the METEOR Workforce Development Framework consists of training, research instruments, interventions and a quality assurance measure.

.BWA is working with residential aged and home care organisations, vocational trainers, employment services providers and a range of other community organisations to develop pathways towards longer working lives for a sustainable aged care workforce.

.The METEOR approach is applicable across all industry sectors. The project has initially focused on the aged care industry but is now being implemented more broadly in some other sectors.
